Digit Shows Off Latest Energy-Efficient LED Technology by Philips Lighting
A giant, seven-foot-tall numeral “2” arrived into Times Square via flatbed truck on Wednesday, December 21, 2012 at the Times Square Visitor Center. The world-famous “2” made the New Year complete in the “2-0-1-2” sign as the Times Square New Year’s Eve Ball descended from high atop One Times Square on December 31st.
Philips Lighting continues to provide all of the Times Square New Year’s Eve Numerals with advanced LED bulbs. The 526 custom-designed Philips scalloped LED flood bulbs that light the numerals use just 9 watts each, compared to the 40 watts consumed by the previous halogen bulbs, representing a 78 percent energy savings.
